Light bulbs in my head

Here are some notions and mini steps that I took to explore an incredible world.

  • 2025-06-13     ADAM estimation for the hierarchical joint model of response accuracy and response time

  • The incorporation of response time into assessment models provides substantial insights into examinees’ problem-solving processes and has driven a marked shift toward jointly modeling response accuracy and speed. Among the available approaches, the two-level hierarchical joint model stands out for its straightforward, intuitive design. Despite its appeal, parameter estimation for this model remains challenging: the estimation depends totally on MCMC. Here, I propose an ADAM-based optimization algorithm specifically adapted to the hierarchical joint framework. [Read more]
  • 2022-06-30     Stage adaptive item selection method in multidimensional IRT

  • Psychological or educational tests often intend to measure multiple traits which help interpret multifaceted cognitive processes, but most item selection methods for computerized classification testing with non-statistical constraints are limited to the unidimensional case. Thus, I expanded my newly-proposed methods to the multidimensional scenario and tried to see what would happen. [Read more]

    Unforgettable experiences

Here are some experiences that shaped who I am.

  • 2017-08-12     What it's like to be a volunteer teacher at Wanzi Primary School: Building the wind so as to help you fly

  • In China, many young children, usually under 15 years old, have been left behind in the countryside in the care of relatives and friends because their parents have immigrated to the cities to look for better incomes. These children are called “left-behind children” (LBC). Living with relatives or non-relatives suffers a high risk of being neglected, and most LBC have problems in developing their future career and social relationship. Our team, the Paper Plane Voluntary Service Group (PPVS), aims to address the barriers that keep LBC from embracing better future and relationships. [Read more]

    Beloved things

Here are treasures that shed light on my life.

    Serendipity
One amazing evening in September 2017, I tentatively wrote to Prof. Minqiang Zhang to introduce myself and see if he would be interested in mentoring me. I got a positive response after only 36 seconds!

    Bao
I had the most beautiful five years in my life when I was with Bao, a blessing from god. Bao taught me how to love and let me know how it feels to be loved.

    Taylor Swift
Her enthusiasm towards her career and resilience in tribulations always galvanize me to keep making great efforts for my goal and to retrieve from afflictions.
